Dashboard Ranges to control Card Ranges

Ability to control Card.ranges from Dashboard.ranges.
It is common to have multiple cards on a dashboard that will have a range. Often times that range is the same for all card. For example, if I'm looking at various sales/order numbers, I want them all for the same time period ( month, week, quater, year-to-date, etc) . Screenshot really explains it much better

Current workarounds

Just using one big PartialCard, with multiple queries generating a Hash that's being fed to the card for displaying

I see ticket #711 is marked as completed, but I don't see anything in the docs on how to setup a range on the dashboard. Also unless I'm mistaken I don't have access to current_user or context inside the dashboard, to pass to all cards

Ideally I'm trying to so something like this, to have a way to controll all cards form a dashboard.

For now my solution is to have 1 big "partial" card, and just stick a bunch of related stats on it ( they all depend on user id, date/month) .

#711 is marked as completed because the items on it have been completed.

The "range on a dashboard" feature is not present yet and we are tracking it on #2146.

You should have access to current_user in each card by default in all blocks and methods. You don't need to pass it as an argument.

Same range to all cards

You can declare one range on the dashboards and then use it in all cards like so.

end

class Avo::Cards::ExampleMetric < Avo::Cards::MetricCard
  self.ranges = Avo::Dashboards::Dashy.ranges

  # ... more card options
end

Global range for all cards

This is something we want to add support for in the future but you can achieve it using a partial card with a select drop-down and some stimulus js to reload the page.
Please keep an eye on #2146 for this feature.
