Add support for delegated types

It'd be great if avo had support for delegated type fields. I think this could work like a belongs to association?

I wonder if making use accepts_nested_attributes_for with delegated types (rails/rails#41717) could work nicely here. We'd then need to show/hide the correct edit form for the delegated resource based on the selected delegated_type.

I had a little time to take a look this evening. I got a basic proof of concept working using a custom field that automagically builds the fields_for fields, utilising the defined fields from the subclass resources. In combination with accepts_nested_attributes on the model and extra_params defined on the superclass resource it "just worked" as expected.

Once I have it a little more fleshed out, I’ll share a draft PR.

I spent a bit more time on this and now have a working end-to-end implementation that meets our needs. With a little more effort it could become a nice addition to the framework.

All functionality is encapsulated within a custom field component and Stimulus controller.

That's fantastic news!

All functionality is encapsulated within a custom field component and Stimulus controller.

This is great for modularity and would fit nicely as a plugin. Plugins are a way to extend Avo’s functionalities via external gems.

We have documentation on plugins here.
