Build Support: arm32 build for older armv7l devices

Is there support for building GG lite as a 32bit package for older ARM architectures,

I have a use case where a client had 100s poorly managed IoT gateways built on a 10 year old SoC which still needs to live on till they migrate to a ARM64 based SoC. However they would like to bring GG into device management before starting a hardware swap.

Hi @thomas-roos - thanks.. this device is built on a DALOS, checking if I can manually get a .deb package on it, so far OPKG is totally broken on the device

ahh.. i didnt get a chance to test it yet, but I spotted the latest package now here: https://github.com/aws-greengrass/aws-greengrass-lite/releases/tag/v2.3.0

Regarding adding Yocto recipe, unfortunately I'm unsure if I will have the luxury to get the OEM to provide us the Yocto build pipeline to build our own meta-layers. But i'll give the manual install a go, Thanks

Just tested the latest release with armv7, will have to break out the .deb package and install manually,
or is there a basic install script lying around somewhere? A quick look through the repo didn't bring anything to quickly install outside a package manager.

You may find it easy to just build it in target or cross compile for it and then create your own package management for your fleet of device.

Thanks @rawalexe for following up, I need more time to convince the customer to let us work on the Yocto build pipeline, so I can add in the aws-meta layers an,d as @thomas-roos described, add the GG recipe. It's a non-technical issue, if you've any ideas on moving the needle here, happy to hear

I mean you can also get an SDK from the image your customer is running with the necessary libs required for greengrass lite to build and compile it and create a similar script as in the deb zip to install manually.
OR you can get the Yocto BSP layer from your customer and yocto version (libs versions) and build an ipkg or rpm and install this then. But this require package management enabled on your customers device.
Easiest would be just to get that into their yocto setup.
