I want support for x-systemd.automount in fstab

Thank you for supporting fstab in 1.8.0. I don't think the x-systemd.automount parameter is currently supported, so I'd like to request support. The reason is that if there is a way to automatically recover from mount loss due to an unexpected error, such as when mount-s3 abnormally terminates due to memory consumption, it will be easier to deal with unforeseen situations.

Hi, thanks for opening this issue.

Mountpoint currently includes detection logic to verify that a mountpoint isn't mounted on multiple times. This interacts poorly with the systemd automount feature, which is why it's not supported out of the box.

However, even if Mountpoint were to support x-systemd.automount, I'm unsure if it would solve your problem. When Mountpoint terminates, applications holding an open file descriptor will not be able to use it even if Mountpoint were to successfully restart.
