modprobe overlay: FATAL: Module overlay not found

I've installed the pine64 Xenial minimal image via the installer, and now I'm trying to run docker on it.

It's giving me the following error when starting containerd:

modprobe: FATAL: Module overlay not found in directory /lib/modules/3.10.105-bsp-1.2-ayufan-77
Is this intended (as it's a minimal image after all) or is something misconfigured?

Seems like i would need a v4 kernel and that pine64 isn't ready for that yet ? (or at least, i can't find any v4 based image anywhere?)
