Backup client binary is not included anymore?

In versions 3.x I saw /usr/bin/proxmox-backup-client in the container without any additional manipulations, but I don't see it there anymore.
I noticed and instruction to wget and untar the binary, but it doesn't look like a Docker way to me.

Is this and intended change or just something missing in recent builds?

I'm running it on Mikrotik RDS2216 where I have a couple of dozen other containers, and directory with all container mount points is mounted in PBS client container, and I back everything up to a remote PBS :)

A separate "client" container would be better, but I don't think one exists, so "server container" worked as a client perfectly fine for me

Ah, but the client container I think does not make a lot of sense. You could install the cli package it is in /release. As, unsure what you can do with cli expect extracting some single file, but still need to have credentials and etc.

I pass credentials via environment variables, and the command to do the backup via Docker's EntryPoint/CMD

@zlowred If you open PR that passes and modifies the to install static client binary https://github.com/ayufan/pve-backup-server-dockerfiles/blob/main/dockerfiles/Dockerfile.build, and this will pass in CI, I will push a point release then.

Actually, it makes sense that server container doesn't include client binary.

You could install the cli package it is in /release.
