Even though Users have an 'Auto label' tab (/admin/config/people/manage/auto_label), it doesn't seem to work. I guess this is because the Drupal version didn't support usernames (https://www.drupal.org/project/auto_entitylabel/issues/1770792), but I'm in agreement with hass that it should, so let's try to do that here...
