Airwindows 2.13.0 for VCV Rack: stuck in loop trying to upgrade on Linux

Hi guys! I hope this is the right place to report this.

For the past few weeks (not sure exactly how long) I have noticed that on my Linux system, VCV Rack (2.6.3, then 2.6.4) keeps trying to update the Airwindows plugin but fails. I always see the red dot on the Library menu.

Every time I try to update, it still says it needs to be updated. It looks like there might be a C library problem?

The library file does exist on my system in /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 Dec 19  2022 libstdc++.so.6 -> libstdc++.so.6.0.30

Please let me know if I can provide any more information or run tests for you from my system.

The quick answer is: the issue happens both ways. I was running Rack 2.6.3 which I built from source. I encountered the problem first there. Thinking 2.6.4 might have a fix for this, I upgraded using the VCV-built binary. It still shows the issue.

Yes, they work great on both self-built 2.6.3 and VCV-built 2.6.4. So far, Airwindows is the only known plugin I just can't install.

You got me thinking, and I tried building Airwindows from source. Guess what... it works! I just used the tip of the main branch, and it says 2.14.0:

So this is a workaround for Linux people. It might also be a clue to the root cause.

let me bump the library version up to 2.14 this week and maybe a clean library build will just solve it?

i know there were loads of toolchain shenanigans around 2.12/2.13 which caused headaches.
