Formant mode, inspired by the Yamaha FS1R

This could be interesting: The Yamaha FS1R once was their flagship FM synthesizer, often unknown and overlooked.

The manual ( https://usa.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/5/333335/FS1RE1.PDF , page 8 ff. ) explains the specific formant mode of this synth. Instead regular FM/PM, it seems to provide parameters like center frequency, level, width, and skirt.

I do not understand the algorithmic implications, but maybe this could be "just" another mixing mode, and at the same time cover also the filter topic?

That is really neat and i didn't know about it

but that is quite a different algorithm it looks like. Basically your 8 operators are inside a range of the spectrum - I'm assuming with some sort of noise-or-saw-with-a-tight-bandpass - and then you control them by moving the bandpass centers and sides.

Neat idea and one I might want to explore indeed, but quite a far way architecturally from six sines.
