left alt + right alt kb layout switching doesn't seem to work

Hello, I've tried adding a few keyboards for languages I'm learning / using and the config file says to use left alt + right alt to switch layouts, however that doesn't seem to register at all, and I can't find the binding configured anywhere in Omarchy/hyprland either, does anyone know how to configure it?

For those wanting a workaround I installed fcitx5-mozc fcitx5-configtool fcitx5-gtk and configured the languages I wanted via fcitx5-configtool and swapping layouts with ctrl + space, it also requires you to add this line:
exec-once = fcitx5 to your hyprland.conf
and these two to your .bashrc:

export QT_IM_MODULE=fcitx
export XMODIFIERS=@im=fcitx

note fcitx5-mozc is only required if you want Japanese input
