Modular/Connectable Years

One really interesting idea was brought up on LinkedIn: basically, make the model extensible by adding connectors on the end. This would involve a couple things:

1. Finding the right geometry to serve as connectors.
2. Allowing the user to configure the position of connectors

For the prism base, this should be pretty straightforward, we just add the connectors to either end. For the frustum base, we'd need to remove the angle on one side for "edge" pieces.

Also maybe add end pieces you can print?
That would be especially important with the frustum base--missing the ends would detract from the look.
Also consider having the connectors on the bottom, not the full height.
Security of connection would not be a concern: you would obviously take it apart to move it.

Could you elaborate what you mean by connectors on the bottom?

Put the connecting bits - the bits that actually connect - on the lower portion of the base and leave the rest clear. For the prism base, it would be normal from the connectors on up. For the frustum base, the ends would still have to be lopped off.
