sct is a toolchain for working with SNOMED CT and related clinical terminology standards. This document articulates the ethical intent behind the project, separate from its legal license.
This software is intended to support human health and well-being by enabling:
- Open clinical terminology research and tooling
- Healthcare interoperability and standards work
- Educational and academic use
- Community-driven health informatics projects
It is prohibited to use this software in ways that harm human health, privacy, or autonomy, including but not limited to:
- Use in systems that harm human health, privacy or autonomy including but not limited to weapons, imprisonment, slavery, or mass surveillance.
The AGPLv3 license governs the legal terms of use. This document expresses intent, not additional legal restriction. It is here to be honest about values, not to create ambiguity in the license.
