Possible spoof of this App on ios AppStore

Hi, I’ve used this app a lot on Android. On the iOS App Store, I found another app spoofing to be this one. I believe Aegis doesn’t plan to support an iOS port. I’m not sure but it feels like a clear violation of your IP rights. The developer is “All About Radon LLC”.

Also, the logo is mirrored there.

I'd like to make a clarification regarding the license, as I've seen several comments suggesting that the mere existence of an iOS version is, by itself, a violation of the project's rights.

I fully understand and respect that the original developers have repeatedly stated that they have no intention of releasing an official iOS version and may not wish such a port to exist. However, that preference does not change the rights granted by the GPLv3 to anyone who receives the source code.

Aegis is licensed under GPLv3, which explicitly allows anyone to fork the project, modify the code, and port it to other platforms, including iOS. Therefore, the existence of an iOS version does not, by itself, constitute a violation of the license.

The real question is whether the distributor of that version complies with the obligations imposed by the GPLv3. If it is a derivative work, it must, among other things:

• Make the complete corresponding source code available.
• Remain licensed under GPLv3.
• Preserve the original copyright and license notices.
• Comply with all other obligations required by the GPLv3.

If those conditions are met, distributing an iOS fork is compatible with the license. If, on the other hand, the GPLv3 is not being complied with, it is up to the copyright holders to decide whether they wish to enforce the license or pursue any legal remedies they consider appropriate.

It is also worth noting that the mere fact that an application is distributed through Apple's App Store does not, by itself, demonstrate a GPLv3 violation. What matters is whether the distributor is complying with the terms of the license.

Naturally, everything above refers only to the software license itself. Other elements, such as the project's name, logo, or any registered trademarks, may be subject to separate rights and different legal considerations.

My comment is not intended to determine whether this particular application complies with the GPLv3, nor to defend or criticize its developer. I have no connection whatsoever with that application or its distribution. My only intention is to remind readers of the rights granted by the GPLv3 and the obligations it imposes on distributors of derivative works, as I believe that is the legal issue that is actually relevant in this discussion.
