Not able to paste copied text

Sometimes I'm trying to paste a URL I've copied into a document, but it doesn't paste anything. Then I have to type in the URL manually (on a mobile phone, mind you). Have you any idea what a pain in the butt that is? I'm on on iPhone SE 2020 running iOS 18.4, btw.
