I ran into this issue when using 0.12.3 and didn't realize this was the problem until it resurfaced and had to reinstall Node-Red and the palette.
Forcing v0.12.2 to install on a new installation of Node-Red v4.1.11 fixed the issue but anything newer with Node-Red (including v5.0.0) and using v0.12.3 or v0.13.1 is corrupting the flows_cred.json file. It may be due to calling MS SQL across multiple flows and using the same MSSQL-CN for each, but I don't have time to test right now and only became an issue after updating past v0.12.2.
