V2 - Organize imports also organizes exports by default, Can this be a flag

We should have the option to choose whether exports are ordered - this is a breaking change for us.

The default will not change: imports and exports will be sorted. We can still consider adding an option in the future.

Thanks, it would really make sense given the rule is called organize imports but it also organizes exports

This was a user request. One of the most used Prettier extension, sorted both imports and exports.

So maybe rename the rule to organizeImportsAndExports (for clarity) and map organizeImports to it, for backward comp.

If I remember correctly, we cannot rename the rule because IDE expects this name.

for example the below is a scenario that you could have if you sort exports with styled components. I can dig out more scenarios if required
export const A = styled(B)color: red;;
export const B = styled.divcolor: blue;;

@skearney414 Biome sorts only chunks of export from, it doesn't re-order other exports. Could you provide an example with export from?

import { B } from "./B";
import styled from "styled-components";

export const A = styled(B)color: red;;

B.ts

import styled from "styled-components";

export const B = styled.divcolor: blue;;

If you have an index.ts which exports from both a and b and biome sorts, it can return undefined. Granted the imports are messy but this can happen

export * from "./A";

I could not wait for this and ended up adding /** biome-ignore-all assist/source/organizeImports: to the top of every index file with export *.
