Hi,
I've started a reverse engineering of the native network protocol with the help of Claude. It works great on my SQ5 with lots of features like EQ, Comp, Delay, Preamp Control, Channel Config (name, color), Routing and so on.

Take it with the appropriate grain of salt, not everything might work correctly and I've only tested it with a single SQ5.

Cool stuff, worth poking around through for sure.

I skimmed very quickly to see if you'd discovered any better info on how dB levels get encoded than I have (by which I mean previous module developers). Not clear on that skim whether the encodings you have to work with are the same as the ones in the MIDI protocol.

Incidentally and not terribly importantly, as far as your Buf goes, it's probably more efficient using DataView for reading/writing numbers from an ArrayBuffer than implementing it yourself.

Thanks. There are quite some interesting things to find - for example the messages for the Strip Colors actually contain RGB values and you can send arbitrary colors ;-) They work on the LCDs, but not on the touchscreen and not in the App.
Some encoding functions look sensible (like dB), but some are rather weird and not very exact yet.
Thanks for the hint with the ArrayBuffer - I actually did not really look at the Code that Claude wrote. I'll check that 👍

Hi! This is right up my alley — I do a lot of network protocol analysis. I'd be glad to help document the native protocol from captures. If folks with SQ hardware can contribute pcaps of specific operations, I can do the dissection and write it up.
