Unable to use newlines in custom field values #16837

Steps To Reproduce
Fields can be multiline and should accept arbitrary strings, however newlines are forbidden for unknown reasons:
Expected Result
Newlines should be possible, for example, through a textarea.
Actual Result
Newlines are stripped.

Additional Context
The field would be helpful to autofill encoded SSH keys, which rely on multiline strings for example. I know, SSH exists as a separate type, but it does not support autofill. Newlines should be possible for arbitrary reason regardless.
