HRRR land classification types (VGTYPE)

The HRRR model output contains a field for "vegetation type" which is an integer value that maps to a particular vegetation type. But what are those types?

Since HRRR is based on the WRF model, I found the table of vegetation types in the WRF documentation

Note: The MODIS21 classification adds the category 21 for "lakes", which is not used in HRRR but can be used in WRF.

Back in 2016, I generated this image of the HRRR land types:

Someone pointed out to me in an email that HRRR VGTYP actually only has 19 unique types [1-19] and excludes category 20. This is probably because there is no "barren tundra" in the HRRR domain.
