How do you filter the GOES data to only include relevant data from a bounded lat/lon area?

Hi 👋 , I'm new to the weather + AI community. I read the docs and was unable to find a recipe for filtering out the data to a bounding box. For context, I'm working with GOES-16 ABI-L1b-RadC

These are the lat and lon coordinates:

lat_min = 28.301294
lat_max = 46.698706
lon_min = -90.094716
lon_max = -66.905284

In xarray, it can usually be done using:

mask = (lat >= lat_min) & (lat <= lat_max) & (lon >= lon_min) & (lon <= lon_max)
subset = ds.where(mask, drop=True)

How do you filter the GOES-16 data? Does the data need to be reprojected? Hoping to receive some guidance on how to get started.
