Similar to other requests I think it's impossible to measure the plug. Well at least it's of no use. Since you will only be using the plug with another device and not just empty by itself. The power usage of the attached device is unknown to the custom component (unless it's a light that's already in the database 😉).

@metbril yes exactly this, we cannot add smart plugs as we don't know which device is attached.

But it is possible to measure smart-plug (self) power draw and it is already done for some models
