Apparmor Denied and resulting logfile spam #51948

Description

@HerrDerLocken

Description

When using the Brave 1.85.120 Snap package an apparmor error spams an errormessage in the syslog (File) resulting in an giant filesize of about 500mb after ~4h.

(A similar error (misconfigured apparmor) with another app resulted (together with brave) in a massive 140Gb logfile)

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install Brave 1.85.120 via Snap/as a snap package on ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS
  2. a) open Brave, use it for a bit and then open the \var\log\syslog file
or b) tail the file and then use Brave

Actual result

The Following will/should appear in the File/show in the tail after Timestamp and MachineName:

kernel: audit: type=1400 audit(1768324507.292:536): apparmor="DENIED" operation="open" class="file" profile="snap.brave.brave" name="/proc/5744/smaps_rollup" pid=5744 comm="MemoryInfra" requested_mask="r" denied_mask="r" fsuid=1000 ouid=1000

Image

How often it appears seems to be based on Browser usage. The more it's used the more often it appears (from my observations).

Expected result

A "normal" syslog for standard system procedures and general app startup and shutdown information (network interface logging, user login info, driver activation/deactivation after/before boot/shutdown, etc...)

Reproduces how often

Easily reproduced

  • with Brave Rewards disabled
  • in the latest version of Chrome
