New - Include Precis - short description of current conditions and replace the icon descriptor

Hi team

love what you have done here - but please can you include the Precis

According to BOM - the Précis forecasts (a short summary, less than 30 characters) are available in XML format for all Australian forecast locations.

this would allow for a better short description and should replace the icon descriptor

as example:

Currently the BOM card in HA shows this ... (and annoyingly has been the same descriptor for 2+ days)

I think you have something configured wrongly as I live on the other side of the valley and I get different stuff showing up in my card. No idea what card you are using, but currently it is showing Shower or two. Storm. Which seems correct to me. I suggest you look the the raw sensor values. You probably want [sensor.farrer_short_text_0]

Hi Thanks for the quick reply - I'm using the default HA weather card

I can see the sensor with the precis text

but I cant see how to show it on the weather card

I couldn't find how to display the information you're chasing in the card or in the documentation so I assume the card does not support this.

The Platinum weather card has a much richer editor which I'd suggest you try - Still works just fine with this integration despite @Makin-Things not maintaining it.

So I looked at this, we can include the short_text into the state attributes of the weather.* forecast entity.
This will allow you to add it as a secondary info field on the card.
I have tested an implementation of this by including the following snippet at the end of the weather.py file.

Thanks ... that would be a good solution ... to include the attribute for Precis / short text - and I'll look at other cards

One option im already using is bubble-card but that doesnt have a ready-made weather card to show next 7 days / hours

Hi All ... another request -- the Feels Like Temp is also not available to select ... can this also be added? As I guess many people want to see this

Do you mean it is not available to select in the Secondary info attribute? Because the "Feels Like Temp" (sensor.<your_name>_temp_feels_like) sensor does exist as an observation sensor.
