Resize column and clip text

I have resizable columns with varying lengths of text. I'd like the column widths to remain constant when clicking from page to page. Using the pagination plugin, the widths will change depending on the lengths of the text.

Also, the columns can't be resized smaller than the text.

Is this just a CSS issue (tailwind), or is the table doing it?

The desired behavior is the column widths are set to 100px for example, and the text is displayed within 100px, overflow is simply clipped. If the user wants to see it, they can resize the column.
