Description

@shweta487

We are supporting a contractor-led project focused on understanding the relationship between Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) and transit ridership. Our role is to participate in project meetings, stay up to date on progress, provide input throughout the research process, and assist in reviewing draft deliverables.

Summary of Scope of Contractor Work:

  • Develop foundational research to support the future development of an interactive calculator that estimates the impact of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) on transit ridership.
  • Produce a written report summarizing the current state of knowledge on TOD and its relationship to transit ridership. This includes a comprehensive literature review focusing on the types of TOD policies that have been effective in various geographic and economic contexts, the characteristics of residents who typically move into TOD-related housing, and the relationship between development features and ridership outcomes.
  • Produce a written implementation plan that outlines a viable architecture for the calculator, a detailed and actionable development roadmap, recommendations on model selection and integration, data requirements, and potential implementation challenges.

Our Role (Internal):

  • Support DRISI in overseeing the development of the research reports.
  • Review and provide feedback on the literature review, implementation plan, and other draft reports.
  • Help ensure findings are supported by credible, cited, and relevant research; that proposed methodologies are practical, scalable, and aligned with the task goals.
  • Provide references to relevant related work completed by DDS on ridership estimation, if essential, to strengthen the analysis or methodology.
