microk8s install results in multipass return exit code 1 error

Summary

unable to install microk8s on macosx tahoe 26.1 (Cloudflare Warp VPN Version: 2025.9.558.0 (20251111.9))

I did not install microk8s until after the last macosx update to 26.1.

What Should Happen Instead?

command prompt > microk8s install
An error occurred when trying to execute 'sudo microk8s.status --wait-ready' with 'multipass': returned exit code 1.

command prompt > microk8s status --wait-ready
sudo: microk8s.status: command not found
An error occurred when trying to execute 'sudo microk8s.status --wait-ready' with 'multipass': returned exit code 1.

Reproduction Steps

1. install multipass from download pkg
2. brew install ubuntu/microk8s/microk8s
3. microk8s install

I had the same problem when installing it on macOS. I ran:
multipass shell microk8s-vm
to open the vm shell then from in the shell I ran
sudo snap install microk8s --classic
to install on the virtual machine. Then the microk8s command worked on the other macOS terminal

I was able to run:
multipass shell microk8s-vm
sudo snap install microk8s --classic in the vm shell, but I also had to run
sudo snap install kubectl --classic
...to finish the install process.
I enabled the registry and was able to import imaged. But after restarting the microk8s-vm, I get the same error trying to run:
microk8s images import image.tar
The microk8s process cannot read the image.tar file even from the same directory used to invoke the microk8s command. The file has 444 read permissions.

There seems to be something not right with the user permissions that plagues the install and the environment.
