Popup Markdown Buttons when text selected

If you guys could add the option to show a popup on selected text for buttons like this, this would become my favorite editor and would be a feature many people would appreciate I am sure...

Any thoughts on it?

Does this feature seem realistic from a code view? (im not sure of what platform you guys are using to package the app across multiple OS's so I assume this popover type functionality is easy for some and not so much for others.)

It's completely realistic and we even have specific plans as to how to approach it.

I'd like to request that there be a preference to toggle this functionality on/off. I'm not a fan and find it intrusive and more often than not, I find it quicker to simply press a keycombo.
