Any chance our teaching demos volunteer work could be logged in amy as is our participation as instructors, learners etc?
When I log my hours for community enegagement as part of my job, i'ts a fairly tedious trawl through my email and calendar. Having an existing system tracking this data - time/date of teaching demo, total participants, total pass, total return, would help me show more clearly the impact of my participation, as well as save heaps of time.
Pro
- Show gratitude to volunteer trainers by sharing the collated data you have on their contribution
- Makes it easy for individual trainers to show their community service work on CV and to other communities
Con
Future: What this could enable
Director of Workshops & Training could routinely share aggregate data with Trainers Leadership Committee - indeed with Trainer community, so we have visibility of our individual effort against context of broader community.
Core Team can make visible how crucial teaching demos are to effectively managing and sustaining Carpentries community. In the context of rising applicability/usefulness of AI, person-to-person assessment in a community context needs to be demonstrated and championed.
