Google Map Card Version 2.0.6: All-New Clustering, Deprecation of Zone Clustering, Follow, Control and Reset Map
Hello, map lovers! This release is packed with exciting new features and significant improvements to make your map experience cleaner, smarter, and more controllable. Here’s what’s new:
New: Proximity Clustering ✨ (Feature Request)
This is the biggest new feature in this release! Now, entities on the map automatically group together under a single icon when they are close to each other, even if they are not in the same 'zone'.
What it does: This makes your map much cleaner and more readable, especially in situations where multiple people are in the same place (e.g., at home or at an event). Instead of cluttered icons, you'll see a single counter showing how many entities are grouped together.
Customizable: You can set the distance (in meters) at which this clustering activates from within the card settings.
New: Advanced Follow Features & Recenter Button 🎯
-
Smart Focus: If you haven't selected a specific entity to follow, the map will now automatically center and zoom to fit all your entities on the screen. This auto-focus re-engages 10 seconds after you stop interacting with the map. (Feature Request)
-
"Recenter" Button: When you manually pan or zoom the map and after you are done simply press the new "Recenter" button, which can be added to the map optionally. (Feature Request)
New: Map Type Selector Button 🗺️ (Feature Request)
New smaller button that allows you to quickly switch between map types like 'Roadmap', 'Satellite', 'Hybrid', and 'Terrain'. So much space for the map
I hope this new version makes Google Map Card more flexible and powerful for you. Enjoy!
