One option is to pipe to less. But this does not work on windows.

Note that more exists on Windows, so it's quite possible to do something like

less = 'less' if shutil.which('less') else 'more'
subprocess.call(less, stdin=...)

I had a crack at this and ran into trouble with setting the stdin to the stdout of hg, because less then didn't recognise interactive keyboard input. I'm sure there's a way around this though.
