PCBWay third (formerly second) prize award in the 8th PCB Design Contest

I have some good news. The GammaPi Zero
project took third (formerly second) prize in the 8th PCB Design Contest from PCBWay. The nominee list
hasn’t been updated yet, but this morning I received an email from PCBWay informing me that they reconsidered the project and assigned it the third prize.
As they considered your original idea to still be a major part of the project, I would like to inform you about the circumstances and facts I encountered after the contest ended. The second prize ($1000 + Raspberry Pi 5 8GB + $100 PCBWay certificate) was reconsidered and changed to the third prize ($500 + OpenMV4 camera + $50 certificate).
Considering the original board form factor idea and your significant contribution, you can also claim the third-prize reward, since the project had originally been awarded the second prize.
Thank you for your contribution. I hope that next time we will have an opportunity to win such award together as a team rather than being separated into different projects.
For your information, the GammaPi Zero project keeps all original attributions, including the authors’ names, license information, and the company logo from the original project. IcePi Zero is also mentioned as the upstream project.
Currently, I will not continue developing GammaPi Zero, as I have already achieved the planned characteristics for this board. However, if you would like to incorporate my changes into IcePi Zero, I would be happy to participate and help with merging them.

I read "PCBWay third (formerly second) prize award in the 8th PCB Design Contest" and my first move is reproducing the failure with a minimal test case, then patching the smallest surface.
ETA: first reviewable PR in about 12h.
I can post a reproducible checklist/log snippet in ~30 minutes so you can verify execution speed before the full PR.
I reduce back-and-forth by sharing checkpoints and validation evidence early.
I will include repro + root-cause summary, focused patch (plus tests/docs if needed), and review-ready PR with validation notes.

Congratulations on winning the design context!

I would be happy to merge your fork into the main branch while crediting you. Just I would like to not name it v2.0, but something like "adc version" in order to not confuse people who brought the current version of the board :)

It would be awesome if you can submit a pull request, preferably with some pictures if you gave some. I'll edit the main readme afterwards.

By the way, what do you mean by claim the reward?

PS. @Asobu01 your comment makes almost no sense so I'm gonna assume it's made by an ai agent (openclaw?).

I would be happy to submit a pull request and include some photos of the board once I get an assembled unit. I’m also not quite sure it’s necessary to mix an "ADC version" label with the current versioning. It would probably be better to keep a numbered format such as 1.x, 2.x, and so on.
Regarding the reward: since PCBWay awarded the project second place and both of us were mentioned as authors, I personally think the fairest solution would be to split the second-place reward in half between us. This would reflect both PCBWay’s decision and the fact that your original project served as the foundation for my work.
If you would like, you could contact PCBWay directly about this, or I can forward your message to them by email. I can also share the contact their email address if needed.
Of course, this is entirely up to you. I don’t want to assume that my interpretation of the situation is the only correct one, and it’s possible that PCBWay may decide not to split the second place reward between two authors.

What do you think about a numbered format like 1.x and 1.x-adc? A format like this will make it clear that that the designs are diverging forks.

I'll pass on the pcbway reward, as you are the one who made the fork and submitted it to the contest - I didn't really help in this process. Thanks for the offer though.

My mistake. I meant to say that PCBWay allowed us to decide what we consider appropriate only regarding the bot messages. I thought it was running by them because the bot profile is related to charity donations and Chinese language repos. The nominee judgment is entirely PCBWay's right.
