How work PLUGINUPDATE

How does the PLUGINUPDATE command work now? I type PLUGINUPDATE or PU, and it shows me - PLUGINUPDATE [] : I tried using various plugin names that appear through PL, but it doesn't work. Did something change? I can't find an answer anywhere.
