Linux .mp4 stops image if rewinded

Simply click on a video previous period in in the timebar (previous to the actual moment running), could be either by a native player or in firefox. The image stops but the audio goes on.
Also, easier to replicate by leftarrow rewind in youtube.
By clicking on a forward moment (that hasn't been played yet) it resolves on working images again.

This has been like this for years.

Let me know how I can test with v2.5.0. I reproduced this on all sorts of videos, so it's pretty common.
