It would be very useful if we have a feature that pressing esc to cancel recording without transcribing. This feature also prevents unwanted text is being inserted when user intend to cancel.

I agree. I'd like to be able to click on the "escape" button to end the recording and transcription when I make a mistake.

I just opened #401 which builds on #224 (Escape didn't work quite as intended for me as-is there)

what was the fix in #401? and could you separate it out into a separate PR? mainly I probably have some comments around the first bit of #401

OK, having actually looked over it, #401 doesn't add much on top of #224 re escape key stuff. Have just extracted the only bit I think matters to #408.
