Add CKAN Stories page on website

Description

We want to add a new evergreen Success Stories page to ckan.org - a case study section showcasing real-world CKAN implementations from governments, NGOs, and research institutions. The page is always open for community submissions.

A full working HTML prototype is available: ckan-success-stories.html. This issue covers what needs to happen to integrate it into the site properly.

What to include

1. Page structure

• Hero section

  • Headline + short description
  • Key stats (portals, countries, etc.)
  • CTAs:
    • “Share your story” (scrolls to submit section)
    • “Get notified of new stories”

• Stories grid

  • 3-column layout (responsive)
  • Each card opens a full story view

• Submit section

  • Explains how to contribute a story
  • CTA: “Open template in Google Docs”

• Notify modal

  • Simple email capture for updates (separate from newsletter)

2. URL & integration

• URL: ckan.org/success-stories
• Use existing site navigation and footer
• Do not create a standalone layout

3. Stories content

• Start with 6 pre-written stories
• Each story includes:
  • Organisation, region, title
  • Challenge, solution, outcomes
  • Impact metrics
  • Quote + author
  • Link to live portal

Content should be manageable so the comms team can update stories easily.

4. Filtering

• Allow filtering by:
  • All
  • Government
  • NGO / Humanitarian
  • Research
  • Civic tech

5. Submission flow

• No form
• Process:
  1. User opens Google Docs template
  2. Fills it in
  3. Emails to: comms@ckan.org

• The challenge
• How CKAN solved it
• Impact
• Quote
• Screenshots + link

6. Notifications

• “Get notified” = simple email capture
• Used only for new story updates
• No page reload on submission
