Import Statistics & Ratings from Amarok 1.4 and/or Ipod

There are already feature requests for the implementation of Statistics and playlists (essentially playcounts, Issue 142 ), Scoring/Rating ( Issue 144 ) and Ipod support ( Issue 449 ).

This one goes along those request in so far as to ask for an import function of the statistics, playlists and ratings from one's Amarok 1.4.x installation or one's portable device.
I guess the playcounts are not quite as important as the ratings, although the combination of both generates some rather useful dynamic playlists.

Since all prerequisites seem to be dealt with (thanks and kudos to all Clementinos btw) I'm hoping the stats import will happen next.
Looking through the open issues here I was wondering whether this should possibly be merged with Issue 90 (stats import from last.fm), since the question for Amarok stats import came up there as well.

Might be a little off topic but with some raw SQL commands I managed to import Amarok 2.4 playcount/rating stats into Clementine 0.6:
Using phpMyAdmin on external DB I export the following:
SELECT a.name,al.name,t.title,(s.rating/10),s.playcount,s.score FROM statistics s
LEFT JOIN tracks t ON s.url = t.url LEFT JOIN artists a ON t.artist = a.id
LEFT JOIN albums al ON t.album = al.id
WHERE (s.rating > 0 OR s.playcount > 0) AND a.name IS NOT NULL ORDER BY s.playcount ASC;

Create new a new database in celementine.db (using firefox SQLite manager):
CREATE TABLE "amarok" ("artist" TEXT,"album" TEXT,"title" TEXT,"rating" FLOAT,"playcount" INTEGER,"score" INTEGER);

Import the data from amarok table to songs table:
UPDATE songs
SET rating = (SELECT amarok.rating FROM amarok WHERE songs.artist = amarok.artist AND songs.title = amarok.title AND songs.album = amarok.album),

I put them into a little shell script and it worked fine. It can be downloaded here: http://thulle.hoho.nu/scripts/amarok2clementine/ if someone prefers that to using phpmyadmin and SQLite manager.

I'm not sure, but the playcounts from Ipod to Clementine might be quite easily (because libgpod gets that information... so far I know) ... so then, basically you seek for that piece of code on Amarok's 1.4 code and then port it.

But not sure if it is as easier as it does sound.

Looking at this, I think only three things are really needed:

1. Song Ratings
2. Song Play Counts
3. Song Last Plays

Everything else isn't really necessary, or can be recomputed as needed. Perhaps the best way to do this would be a set of scripts users could apply to their current music database, be it iTunes, Amarok 1.4.x/2.x, Exaile, etc.

In my own case, my main Amarok 1.4 playlist uses the last time a song was played to determine when it should be played again. This allows me to cycle through my whole music library every couple of months at the least, since I have 20K+ songs.

And well, why not also include an option to import playcount/rattings from another Clementine database.

This will be usefull if you are moving from Windows to Linux (or viceversa) and want to keep the playcounts, specially usefull when you have been playing tracks for more than 3 months.

Please also add import scripts for Itunes. I have (and other thousand of users might) hundreds of musics with my ratings. This is must-have feature so users can migrate to Clementine.

This should be number one priority guys: I'm so fed up with Itunes that I'm willing to re-rate everything manually (I'll just have to have Itunes and Clementine opened side by side) but I expect most Itunes users won't be willing to do so. This is a must-have future that could greatly increase the adoption of this charming media player.

As a workaround for importing iTunes ratings, I made five smart playlists in iTunes and then exported them. Opening the playlist then allows me to select all songs and adjust the rating.
