Figwheel/General live reload integration?

Something similar to this, any idea how to set this up in particular?
I assume the current workflow is 'lein chromebuild auto' then pressing the reload button inside Google Chrome...

Figwheel works only with :optimizations :none, which relies on goog.load and it doesn't work with chrome extensions. I think it is solvable though.

Approach mentioned in that blog post uses runtime.reload() which has vague effects. Possibly this is the same as pressing "Reload" in chrome://extensions/. I tried pressing "Reload" while running content script — it hasn't reloaded. However I think background scripts are reset with losing state.

I think chrome extension reload can be implemented on figwheel side, but I don't know a way to load updated files from chrome environment (possibly different for background and content scripts). Also, I don't known if eval()ing script file content will lead to the same result as reloading script file.

+1. Figwheel-like live reload, or just figwheel integration, would be great to have.
