Plug-in for snapRAID

I'd love to see a plug-in to manage a snapRAID setup through the Cockpit interface. This would be especially useful for managing a NAS or homelab setup through a GUI instead of having to use the terminal.

Here's a quick overview of the main features of snapRAID:

SnapRAID is a backup program designed for disk arrays, storing parity information for data recovery in the event of up to six disk failures.

• You can utilize disks already filled with files without the need to reformat them, accessing them as usual.
• All your data is hashed to ensure data integrity and prevent silent corruption.
• When the number of failed disks exceeds the parity count, data loss is confined to the affected disks; data on other disks remains accessible.
• If you accidentally delete files on a disk, recovery is possible.
• Disks can have different sizes.
• You can add disks at any time.
• SnapRAID doesn't lock in your data; you can stop using it anytime without reformatting or moving data.
• To access a file, only a single disk needs to spin, saving power and reducing noise.

Hey! Thank you for your suggestion but currently we have no plans to start any new plugins. Of course you are free to start your own plugin based on our starter-kit.

I've just noticed that the uCore-Image of Fedora CoreOS already ships with snapRAID and Cockpit included. Unfortunately, snapRAID can only be configured and run through CLI.

@tomillr are you referring to just in that particular image of Fedora, or generally?

Because OpenMediaVault has both mergerfs and snapraid plugins for it's gui control panel. There are, of course, more options/controls available from the CLI, but it seems like configuring snapraid from a web gui is potentially very doable.

Whether there are any interested parties that want to implement some thing like that for Cockpit is another matter, unfortunately.

Having the option to manage snapRAID through the gui, similar to the options available in OpenMediaVault, would be a nice addition to Cockpit that might benefit all users, not just those of the Fedora uCore-Image.
