First thing I did was try searching for "http://", to test how the extension handles escaping characters.
We did not get that far. Final character of the search isn't processed until focus changes or you add an extra character and then backspace.

For the firefox problem: there's a carriage return missing somewhere 🤣
just where to put it I can't quite find .. there seems to be no manual handling of cursor position?

Also, thanks for the extension! it's pretty nicely done and actually works™. Not the overconvoluted mess some other addons display.. 😅
