Description

Create a howto on fixing kata issues.

Current workflow for fixing bugs and problems with kata is somewhat messy and not easy to grasp. Improvements are planned, but until we get them, it might be worth to describe the process, drop some hints on how to avoid most common problems, etc.

  • Kata editor vs forking
    • cannot fork translations added with the editor
  • Required privileges
    • mods and authors don't need to wait and can approve own translations
  • Pitfalls of forking
    • description merge conflicts
      • how to get the most recent description
    • loss of changes introduced by direct edits
      • how to get the most recent version of all snippets
    • loss of changes introduced by intermediate forks
      • description always coming from the root fork
    • approval of a fork
  • Award (or lack thereof)
    • Author of the root fork gets points
    • Marks you as a contributor, and contributors do not get points anymore

Some points might end up common to translations, so maybe just link to relevant parts in translation authoring guides.
