Connecting Archon to Codex CLI

I have tried a variety of Toml configurations at ~/.config/codex/config.toml but none have been successful. Does anyone have any success with codex cli?

This should work:

[mcp_servers.archon]
command = "npx"
args = ["mcp-remote", "http://localhost:8051/mcp", "--allow-http"]

Frustratingly, this didn't work. I have tried placing the config in different locations. Installing mcp-remote and running with no npx. Installing archon with brew and npm. I never get any errors and have pretty much decided it isn't worth the time investement to get it to work. Not sure if its a me thing, or a codex thing, but I might have to come up with another solution instead of trying to connect to archon.

are you running codex in wsl or a windows environment like PowerShell/cmd?

@adamcooper1386 Have you figured out what the issue was? I'm running Archon using Docker (Windows Host PC + WSL2 docker backend). Node.JS is installed on the Windows 11 host PC. Codex is installed on windows host PC. I could not connect Codex to Archon MCP server. It looks like I will be forced to study MCP lol.

On windows I can not get codex to connect to any of my mcps, this is an internal rust problem (codex's codebase) however in wsl it connects perfectly fine to archon and all other MCPs

@Chillbruhhh Thank you so much, man! You're right, by running Codex inside WSL it is possible to connect to Archon mcp server. Inside the project folder, you have to add: /.codex/config.toml and add into this file:

[mcp_servers.archon]
command = "npx"
args = ["mcp-remote", "http://localhost:8051/mcp", "--allow-http"]

You can also replace 'localhost' with the IP address where your Archon server is running.
