We have collected many changes and we have beautiful documentation.

Here, I would like to collect what you find essential (not nice to have) for a 7.0.0 release. Please comment below @stevepiercy @SashankBhamidi and the others.

Looking at what's in CHANGES.rst and open PRs:

Essential for 7.0.0:

• PR Document icalendar.version #930 (Document icalendar.version) - I approved, waiting on Steve to merge
• PR Docs follow up 919 #924 (Docs follow up Documentation Follow-Up #919) - Steve's cleanup
• PR Allow decoding of already decoded property values #863 (Allow decoding of already decoded property values) - fixes AssertionError bug in Decoding categories throws AssertionError #279

Not ready:

• PR Fix Issue 219 #866 (Fix Issue Support DQUOTE character in property parameter values #219) - has TODOs, incomplete

Not blocking:

• Issue AI Policy #933 (AI Policy) - important but doesn't need to be in release code
• Doc improvements can go in 7.0.1
• Good first issues

Breaking changes already documented in CHANGES.rst. If #930, #924, and optionally #863 merge, looks ready.

• There are 2+ year old PRs (Fix #355 url escaping #356, #321 - tz component conversion to pytz time zone fails #379, add tests for issue #355 #426). I can look at those before v7 if they're relevant. Make CHANGES.rst requirement visible to contributors #892 (comment)

@niccokunzmann I've added documentation issues as subissues that I can complete within the next month and I think are useful for a 7.0.0 release. We can push a few of them to future releases, if you want to release 7.0.0 within a given timeframe.

@mauritsvanrees mentioning you here as you use icalendar in Plone. The 7.0.0 release only has minimal breaking changes: https://icalendar.readthedocs.io/en/latest/reference/changelog.html is there a chance you would like to try v7.0.0a when it comes out?
