shim: RPC protos and dependencies need rework #366
Description
We currently cannot bump grpc-go to 1.62.x due to build errors. I don't have the idea what is wrong but we seem to be using dependencies that are being deprecated 3 years ago so it's probably good to rework things to use google.golang.org/protobuf.
