Description
This project has been brewing in my mind for a few years, but chat after Tapiwanashe's talk at typewknd finally inspired me to actually give it a go. Sometime after October 5th we'll be hosting a group chat or conference call with interested parties to talk about the problem and brainstorm about what specific things we might be able to pull together to improve this space. If you are interested in this project and have expertise in one of the many general areas we'll need to touch on it would be nice to know who you are and what that expertise is so we can include the right people in the right brainstorming sessions. Several people in the conference chat expressed interest, but we haven't officially set any dates or times. I'
For that to be productive we need input from:
-
People who have developed successful novel writing systems. I know many projects that may have been worthy of success have failed in part due to technical limitations so I don't want to rule out hearing from them; but I'm particularly interested in hearing from people that have overcome the social and linguistic barriers about what we can do to lower the technical barriers. We can't solve all the problems, but my focus would be on helping the people that can solve the other problems by getting technical issues out of their way.
-
People who have worked the Unicode proposal process for new writing systems.
-
People who implement anything in a relevant part of the tech stack, whether that is input methods or editors or sharpers or font editors or whatever that will need modifications or plugins or whatever.
If you want to help us with your corner I'd like to hear from you.
