Searchbase Contributor License Agreement

Version 1.0

Thank you for contributing to Searchbase.

This Contributor License Agreement ("Agreement") documents the rights you grant when you submit code, documentation, designs, tests, issues, pull requests, or other material to this repository ("Contributions").

By submitting a Contribution to Searchbase, you agree to this Agreement.

1. Copyright License

You grant the Searchbase project owner (coolapso) a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable copyright license to use, reproduce, modify, prepare derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute your Contributions.

This license allows your Contributions to be included in Searchbase and distributed under the project's open-source license, commercial licenses, or other licensing terms chosen by the project owner.

2. Patent License

If your Contribution includes material covered by patent claims that you own or control, you grant the Searchbase project owner and downstream users a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable patent license to make, use, sell, offer to sell, import, and otherwise transfer your Contribution as part of Searchbase.

3. Your Representations

You confirm that:

  • You have the legal right to submit the Contribution.
  • Your Contribution is your original work, or you have permission to submit it under this Agreement.
  • Your Contribution does not knowingly violate any third-party rights.
  • If your employer or another organization owns rights to your Contribution, you have received permission to submit it.
  • You will clearly identify any part of your Contribution that is subject to a third-party license.

4. No Obligation

The project owner is not required to accept, merge, publish, support, or maintain your Contribution.

5. No Warranty

Your Contribution is provided "as is", without warranties or conditions of any kind.

6. No Employment or Partnership

This Agreement does not create an employment, contractor, agency, partnership, or joint venture relationship between you and the project owner.

7. Why This CLA Exists

Searchbase is an independent open-source project that may also be offered under commercial licenses. This CLA ensures the project owner can keep the project open-source while retaining the ability to provide commercial licensing options.

8. Acceptance

Pull requests must confirm acceptance of this CLA through the repository CLA Assistant workflow. If you have not signed yet, the bot will ask you to comment with the required signing phrase on the pull request.

If you do not agree to this Agreement, do not submit Contributions to this repository.
