Consider using Doxide and Materials for mkdocs for documentation #34

@JaroCamphuijsen

Description

@JaroCamphuijsen

As of #7 we use doxygen to generate technical documentation from the sourcecode and Sphinx to build the documentation (in our case in HTML) to be displayed on a webpage. Doxide + materials for mkdocs seems to be a somewhat more modern option. It would be good to investigate whether this is a stable solution and useful for us.
