Discount coupons should have more in depth error messaging to cover conditions not being met. Currently a valid discount coupon can be applied to the cart and if the conditions of that coupon haven't been met there is no adjustment applied. This is correct but there is no messaging to relay this to the customer - eg: “Not enough items in cart”, “{{ product.title }} not present in cart”, “promo code usage limit reached” etc…
