We would like to upgrade to a newer version, but it is important for us to keep the same API without making code changes.

Basically, it is possible to upgrade to the latest version safely.
As for API, while the v2 API has been introduced, the v1 API is still currently available.
As for DAG definition, dependencies between steps are linked sequentially by default. If you prefer to specify dependencies, you many need to set type: graph in your DAG.

Please note that the structure of history data has changed since v1.17. To retain past execution history, you will need to run the dagu migrate history command to migrate the data.
