Opto isolate ptt? And other stuff

Saw you had some issues with spikes. Not sure which line they are coming on but you could try opto isolate the ptt line. Are the Rx and TX also digital serial data to /from the radio?

on a separate note I’m new to ham and looking for a solution for monitoring temperature remotely. I’m not sure the best way to do this but have arduino mega and some uv5r laying around. Was thinking initially of having the mega broadcast and 440hz tone over the mic channel once a temp threshold is hit. But would be cooler if I could send a 10 character message over gmrs or even a murs channel with actual temp data. Any thoughts on a good way to do it?

I did a remote temperature monitoring project with an arduino and 4 ds18b20 sensors. But I used wifi to send the data to a hosted mysql database.
