[Feature] Support for old devices (iPads)

The feature

Allow the slideshow to run in (very) old iPads (1st and 2nd Gen)- and of course other stone-age devices.
Background: have a bunch of very old iPads and Samsung tables laying around - was intrigued by the idea of iFramix, their HW is great but the SW is somewhere between annoying (UI design) and useless (crashes arbitrarily or just stops working for no apparent reason) - that was before I migrated all out photos to Immich...
Immich-kiosk is great and does exactly what I need (want) but the frontend code is a bit too 'modern'. So I suggest to amend the code to support old devices - obviously without limiting features on more modern clients.

Have written my last code about 5 years ago... but am motivated to embark on it (unless you stop me ;) !

I assume you came across this request when doing your search #167. I did try to add some polyfils but without a complete rewrite Kiosk will not work on older browsers.

The only option that will work on such devices is /image/reload.

yes is saw #167 but was not quite clear of the status since the folks seam to have moved to some remote desktop solution.
in my iPad (1stGen) not even /image/reload works... of course am no aiming at a complete rewrite... was more looking if something can be done with some .js frontloading/polyfils...
from what I saw when debugging the code on the frontend it shouldn't be that big a deal, but haven't dug into your code/libraries much yet.
Is there a way to 'reactivate' the 'legacy=true' version that you made a year or so back ?

That's the route I tried but as I do not own an old iPad it was almost impossible to debug myself. If you want to have a go I'm more then happy to help in anyway I can.

I found the old branch but it's so outdated I would advise starting from scratch. The main alterations I tried can been seen here:

I would also love this, but if you're willing to use a hacky workaround, I've just got it working on an iPad 4 using this method:

It's a proper hack, but was easy to do.

nice one - but requires to be able to install an app (VNC viewer) on the iPad - which is no longer possible as the app store crashes immediately on opening

Ahh, that's really annoying. It's not the best solution, the transitions and zoom is too choppy, but it'll do me for now until I find a better solution.
